先が赤っぽい黄色のオシベが見事です。
日本でも観賞用に売られているパキラの種類。
原産地では１８ｍにもなる大きな木で、
生で食べるとピーナッツ、ゆでると栗のような味
のする種を、この大きな殻の中に宿しています。
ちょうど割れたのが落ちていました。

The fruit is borne in a pod, 15" long and 5" across, filled
with the pulp-covered seeds.
The seeds can be eaten raw, cooked or
ground into a flour to make bread.
Raw seeds taste like peanuts, and cooked seeds
taste like chestnuts:-)
